Closes and complains about it having an issue. The DVD Player closes on an error as well as VLC which I downloaded and it opens a black box like it's going to play and same thing. I just tested to see if I could play a DVD and thats a Negatory. I can add a widget to the Dashboard but don't see any sort of Ripple. Not sure exactly what the Ripple effect looks like. The HD is 5400RPM 40gig so I'd imagine its nothing to expect much out of.
When I boot up there is a a Vesa 2.0 Message that refers to the 64meg Radeon Mobility 9600 video card thats in this old sucker.

You might still want to read through some of the driver threads around here to see what's wrong with your disk controller. You probably don't, but unless you intend to do video or high end photo editing, you aren't missing much. By the way, the true test of Core Image is if you get the ripple effect when adding a widget to Dashboard. Those scores don't seem that bad, considering. I looked up your laptop, and if I'm right then you have the old Intel integrated video (earlier even than the GMA 900), which is no longer supported. It would probably be in the upper 30s or lower 40s if you could get that sorted out. Well that score seems about right for as slow of a machine as you have, but your disk scores are really dragging your score down. CoreDuo where as mine is an Intel Centrino 1.7ghz. Your Laptop in your sig seems pretty stout though!. I did find 1.3 and it wasn't that much better. Not sure what the latest version of Xbench.
